Think Forward | My health and wellness goals
This is the exact content found in the “Think Forward | My health and wellness” activity within the Pre-Arrival Program.
What are your goals?
Setting goals can give you something to work towards and help hold you accountable. Complete this activity by brainstorming things that you currently do to maintain your health and wellness, and then set health and wellness goals for your first term. You will be able to come back later in the term to re-visit your goals. Your answers in this activity will be kept confidential and will not be seen by other students.
- Thinking about all the mental health, physical health, and wellness wheel information we’ve just given you, what are two things you are currently doing that are good for your health?
- Thinking about all the information we’ve just given you, and the ways in which your life may change once you start at UVic, what are two specific commitments to your health you will make?
Tip: Making your commitments as specific as possible will increase your likelihood of following through. If you want to get eight hours of sleep each night, commit to being alone in your room by 10 p.m. every weeknight to begin winding down, and be in bed by 11 p.m. If you want to go to the gym three times per week, commit to scheduling gym time in your calendar right after your last class of Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
