When you become a student at UVic, you’re not simply joining an institution or showing up at a school. You’re joining a community. While the campus, the buildings and the course content are all important to your UVic experience, it’s the people that make our community the great place it is.

We are a diverse community of over 23,000 people. Everyone comes with different backgrounds, experiences, interests, values and goals for the future and we work hard to make sure that everyone finds their place, feels supported and can grow and succeed.

Our community is constantly changing and evolving as we add over 4500 new students to our ranks every year, but a few things always remain consistent: our commitment to learning & curiosity, our appreciation of the environment & efforts around sustainability, the idea of community and support, our responsibility to our relationships with Indigenous peoples and the principles of diversity & inclusion. We hope that these values resonate with you and that you’ll be able to find your own ways of bringing them to life during your time at UVic.

In a community as large as ours, there are lots of things to fall in love with and everyone has their own favourites. This video (1:01) will introduce you to a few of our current students and what they love about being at UVic.

We are so excited that you have made the decision to join us at UVic and can’t wait to see you find your place and help shape the community!
